Attic jewel in Karlín: A place where architecture tells a story
In the very heart of Prague's Karlín district, an exceptional apartment has been created that is more than just a luxury living space. Under the hands of architect Petr Jančálek, this space has been transformed into an elegant and well-thought-out attic retreat. The result is a place that combines history, modern design, and the personal passion of its creator.
Apartment designed by heart
"I approach every project as if I were creating it for myself," says Jančálek, who turned the original co-op apartment into a space full of light, high-end materials, and architectural details. He drew inspiration from his years of experience in renowned studios in Prague and Mallorca. The result is a harmonious whole that welcomes the owner with its acknowledged historic beams, fine wood flooring, its own skylight with plants, and a thoughtful interior where nothing is accidental.
Luxury without compromise
The apartment is fitted with premium materials, including Mont Blanc marble, which, thanks to its durability, has also found its way into the kitchen counters. In the bedroom, the freestanding bathtub is a design element, and every room brings something extra - art objects, white flooring, timeless furniture. "The apartment is meant to be like a new luxury car - ready, unworn, unique," says the architect of the approach he used to complete the space.
Recognition from the professional community
This unique interior was noticed by the jury of the Interior of the Year 2023 competition, where the apartment took part in the "Renovation" category. Although it did not win an award, it was presented on the homepage of the competition website for a long time and also caught the attention of the editors of iDnes.cz, who included it among the most interesting realisations of the year.
Sense of detail and respect for history
During the reconstruction, emphasis was placed on energy efficiency - the walls were insulated with phenolic foam, and the original windows were preserved and improved. All construction interventions were carried out with respect to the historical character of the house from 1837. A building permit was even obtained for the installation of an elevator to connect the courtyard to the apartment floor.
Living as an experience
The architect Jančálek wanted to create a space that its future owner would fall in love with - and that's exactly what he did. This apartment is not just an investment in quality living. It's a place where art, architecture, and comfort come together - and where every detail tells a story of passion for beauty and perfection.
